A little update...

Dorene has been home since the 29th... gosh just a little over a week... it seems longer.  We talk every day with few exceptions and often two or three times a day.  Recovery from the operation has, as expected, been a challenge but not as difficult as the last time in some ways.  What is different is Dorene's complete revulsion over food.  She says everything smells like it has chemicals on it.  She is forcing down an Ensure shake that includes ice cream and milk to boost calories since she can't eat solid food.  She has one to two of these a day and occasionally snacks on fruit.  Fruit is the only thing that ever sounds good to her.  She has been extremely fatigued.  And, she is naturally frustrated and sad over being mostly bed or couch bound.

She was talking today about how she misses her voice and her own laughter.  The lung procedures have changed her voice and her ability to laugh.  If she uses expression in her voice or laughs it makes her cough so she has to keep a low, even monotone tenor to her voice to reduce coughing.

Because it is cold and icy outside Dorene has to mostly walk (to help exercise her lungs) inside though the other day she and Matt walked to the mail box.  She is so over TV and laying around but has no real choice in the matter.  The only new fun she has is she and Candace are now Skyping and Dorene loves it because she can see her Candy Cane and Candace was even able to walk the computer camera around her new home to show her Mom where she was living and how she was nesting. :-)

I don't think there are any calling restrictions any more... if Dorene is asleep either the machine or Matt takes a message so feel free to touch base... and if you Skype ask Matt if he can hook you up.  Dorene said Matt takes care of the Skype Calls. :-)

With Love,
Dorene's Sister
Deborah xoxo
